Alternate Type C Inlet Protection - Not at Grade<br />

Inlet protection shall not be required for inlets tributary to sediment basins or sediment traps.<br />

Alternate Type C inlet protection can be used on one acre maximum drainage area with 15”<br />

overflow pipe <strong>and</strong> 4” head.<br />

Berms shall be required for all installations not located at low points. Earthen berms shall be<br />

stabilized with vegetation <strong>and</strong> maintained until roadway is stoned or tributary area is<br />

permanently vegetated. Road subbase berms shall be maintained until roadway is paved.<br />

Inlets shall be inspected weekly <strong>and</strong> after each runoff event. Accumulated sediment shall be<br />

removed when it reaches half the height of the stone. Damaged installations shall be repaired<br />

or replaced within 24 hours of inspection.<br />

For systems discharging to HQ or EV surface water, a 6 inch thick compost layer shall be<br />

securely anchored on outside <strong>and</strong> over top of stone. Compost shall meet the st<strong>and</strong>ards in<br />

Table 4.2.<br />
