WATERBARS Waterbars, including slope breakers <strong>and</strong> interceptor dikes, should be installed across the entire right-ofway on all slopes. PA DEP Waterbars should be constructed at a slope of 2% <strong>and</strong> discharge to a well-vegetated area on the downslope side of the right-of-way. This may include wooded areas if the recommended spacing provided in Table 13.2 is followed. Waterbars should not discharge into an open trench. Obstructions, such as straw bales, silt fence, rock filters, compost socks etc. should not be placed in any waterbars. Where needed, they may be located below the discharge end of the waterbar.
