STILLING WELL - Stilling wells may be used where little floating or rolling debris is expected. Since<br />

tailwater increases the efficiency of a stilling well, whenever possible, it should be located in a sump or<br />

depressed area. Riprap or other scour protection should be provided for a distance of at least three<br />

times the well diameter downstream.<br />
