The aim of this panel is to analyse noteworthy aspects of these religious phenomena, and to consider the different interpretations of the same phenomenon in different contexts (for example the various and specific ways in which the same symbol can be used and interpreted or the way in which the same existential problem, for instance, salvation, was expressed in different situations). In this perspective, the aim of this panel is not to analyze every single religious phenomenon or a single aspect of a specific phenomenon but, on the contrary, to show how the same attitude that is characteristic of the cultural climate of Late Antiquity could be present in religious contexts that were quite different from each other. In order to highlight the more or less common lines that are characteristic of this historicalreligious background, we propose a broad area of analysis that both attests to popular beliefs and that relate to the way of thinking of the intellectuals. In addition to literary, epigraphic and papyrological sources, particular attention will be given to the analysis of archaeological and iconographical evidence. 15.00 Ennio Sanzi Magia e Culti orientali.
