dressed like a woman at times, but often like a man.<br />

As a woman, there was something masculine in her<br />

gait and manners ; as a man, she was effeminate, and<br />

had a womanish love for ribbons and ornaments. Her<br />

soul seemed even more bi-sexual than her bodily or<br />

gans. If, as is supposed, the masculine gender<br />

is the<br />

fullest development, nature, in her case, went too far<br />

for a woman, and not far enough for a man.<br />

SEX IN MIND.<br />

The last case proves, what is apparent to every ob<br />

server, that the influence of sex runs through the<br />

whole mental and moral character. Men differ from<br />

women as much in brain as in body. They have cer<br />

tain organs relatively larger, and others relatively<br />

Bmaller, than women. The moral organs correspond<br />

intimately with all physical differences. There is a<br />

vast number of traits of character connected with the<br />

testes and its secretion in the male, as well as in the<br />

ovaries, uterus, clitoris, and mammary glands of the fe<br />

male. No man can know what a world of delicate<br />

tenderness finds its seat in a woman's swelling bosom;<br />

so no woman can know all the nobility<br />

centers in the virile organs of the man.<br />

If we could compare the most masculine woman<br />

with the most feminine man, there would still be a<br />

wide difference. But this wide difference does not<br />

prove that woman was intended to be the slave, the<br />

tool, and the victim of man, as she is and has been.<br />
