Scenario 1: advanced disease –<br />

early (FACT-P)<br />

This scenario is based on a questionnaire which<br />

uses <strong>the</strong> following phrases to describe <strong>the</strong> level <strong>of</strong><br />

impact <strong>of</strong> symptoms and impairments:<br />

● not at all<br />

● a little bit<br />

● somewhat<br />

● quite a bit<br />

● very much.<br />

● You have a little nausea and some lack <strong>of</strong><br />

energy.<br />

● You w<strong>or</strong>ry quite a bit about your condition<br />

getting w<strong>or</strong>se and about dying.<br />

● You feel somewhat sad and nervous.<br />

● Your ability to w<strong>or</strong>k, your enjoyment <strong>of</strong> life and<br />

<strong>the</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> your sleep are somewhat reduced.<br />

● Your appetite is restricted a little bit and you<br />

have lost a moderate amount <strong>of</strong> weight.<br />

● You have general aches and pains that bo<strong>the</strong>r<br />

you somewhat.<br />

● You experience significant pain in certain parts<br />

<strong>of</strong> your body which sometimes keeps you from<br />

doing things you want to do.<br />

● You have a little trouble moving your bowels.<br />

● You find it somewhat difficult to urinate and<br />

you may urinate m<strong>or</strong>e frequently than usual.<br />

These problems limit your activities somewhat.<br />

● Your ability to have sex is severely affected by<br />

your condition.<br />

Scenario 2: advanced disease –<br />

moderate (FACT-P)<br />

This scenario is based on a questionnaire which<br />

uses <strong>the</strong> following phrases to describe <strong>the</strong> level <strong>of</strong><br />

impact <strong>of</strong> symptoms and impairments:<br />

● not at all<br />

● a little bit<br />

● somewhat<br />

● quite a bit<br />

● very much.<br />

● You feel somewhat nauseated and feel lack <strong>of</strong><br />

energy quite a bit.<br />

tired a lot <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> time.<br />

● You w<strong>or</strong>ry very much about your condition<br />

getting w<strong>or</strong>se and sometimes feel hopeless<br />

● You feel very sad and nervous.<br />

● Your ability to w<strong>or</strong>k, your enjoyment <strong>of</strong> life and<br />

● Your appetite is reduced quite a bit and you<br />
