the Freemasons, one Victor Delmenico becoming Master of the Lodge in 1927.<br />

He succeeded in having changed an annual 'Scottish night' ~ a social event<br />

featuring haggis and bagpipes ~ to a 'Garibaldi night' with Italian sausages and<br />

wdne. At the end of the twentieth century, it remains a popular event (held on<br />

the first Saturday in September) in the Newstead branch of the Freemasons. It<br />
