Carboni, another Italian settler who documented the events of the Eureka<br />

uprising in his well-knovm book The Eureka Stockade, had similarly been<br />

moved by white treatment of the Australian aborigines. His play Gilbumia,<br />

which told of the clash between whites and Tarrang Aborigines near Maldon in<br />

1854, was one of the first literary works to condemn such action. Raefaello<br />
