Another potential choice is to display two time
zones on two separate dials, an approach rendered
possible by unusually structured watches. Jaeger-
LeCoultre thus makes the most of its famous swivel
case on the Reverso Grande GMT, with its two backto-back
dials. The front one features displays including
a “GMT differential,” indicating the number of
hours by which this time zone differs from
Greenwich Mean Time or another reference time.
With its new Altiplano Double Jeu, Piaget renews the
tradition of “secret” watches by offering two dials
on two superimposed cases connected by a hinge
and equipped with ultra-thin mechanical movements.
The 2010 version features a 24-hour display of the
second time zone.
