With its double analogue and mechanical
digital display, this watch from de Grisogono
asserts itself as one of the most exceptional
contemporary haute horlogerie models. Its
highly sophisticated movement called for years
of development, but this marvel of precision
is not reserved exclusively for connoisseurs
of horological techniques. The accurate and
constantly repeated choreography performed by
its gear trains, cams and microsegments generates
extraordinary emotion and fascinating poetry
that can be sensed by everyone. This majestic
performance is set off to its best advantage within
a case featuring imposing yet elegant lines.
The heart of the watch beats to the tune of a
hand-wound mechanism composed of 651 parts,
all hand-assembled by the company’s most skilled
and experienced watchmakers. The analogue
display of the hours and minutes is located in
the upper part of the dial, while the lower area
features a mechanical digital display indicating a
second time zone. The latter reveals tens of hours,
single hours, tens of minutes and single minutes
thanks to the action of mobile microsegments
driven by a set of 23 cams combined with gears
plus a triggering/synchronisation device. The
vertical segments are 4.55 mm high and the
horizontal ones have a display length of 1.80 mm.
Each segment has four faces: two visible
faces opposite each other with coloured
inserts and two invisible faces, also opposite.
One or more segments rotate 90° to turn
one time indication into the next.The
jump is instantaneous, while anywhere
from 1 to 12 segments move, depending
on the time being displayed.
Each year, the digital function is activated
518,400 times and sets 285 million
parts into motion.
This exceptional movement lends its full
value to this timepiece that is inventing a new
