not pay his Breath, he suffers a wound of the<br />

resistant aggravated variety to his Corpus.<br />

Unlike ghosts, to discorporate is a one-way<br />

ticket, so Antecedents are far more careful<br />

with their spectral flesh. Though these<br />

wounds heal at the normal rate, they will not<br />

unless the Antecedent pays up.<br />

Antecedents have a Corpus trait, as<br />

the ghosts of the World of Darkness<br />

Rulebook (page 170). It is thus in name<br />

only, though, as the Antecedent maintains<br />

his individual attributes in place of Power,<br />

Finesse, and Resistance. He may also<br />

continue to utilize his Aspects, and probably<br />

spends most of his time in True Form (as<br />

there is no risk of discovery).<br />

Antecedents Antecedents as as Backseat Backseat Drivers<br />

Drivers<br />

<strong>The</strong> real trouble that comes with an<br />

Antecedent is when they decide to take a<br />

ride with their Heart’s current owner. When<br />

a <strong>Dragon</strong>’s body has finished its<br />

reconstruction, the Antecedent can try to tag<br />

along. <strong>The</strong> Oroboroi must roll her Ethics:<br />

Dramatic Failure: Impossible when<br />

rolling Ethics.<br />

Failure: One of the <strong>Dragon</strong>’s<br />

Antecedents manages to anchor himself to<br />

her body instead of her Heart. <strong>The</strong><br />

complications of this are explained below.<br />

Success: <strong>The</strong> Antecedent doesn’t<br />

succeed in changing his anchor.<br />

Exceptional Success: No different<br />

than a success.<br />

For the Antecedents that do grab a<br />

ride, the <strong>Dragon</strong>'s body becomes their<br />

anchor until the <strong>Dragon</strong> dies again, the<br />

Antecedent runs out of Breath (and is flung<br />

back to the Heart as anchor), or the<br />

Antecedent runs out of Corpus (and is flung<br />

to the underworld). He can also be<br />

exorcised, in which case it returns to the<br />

Heart as anchor. This of course has the<br />

potential of making the <strong>Dragon</strong> a walking<br />

haunted house, so it’s not particularly a good<br />

thing.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Antecedent suffers damage to<br />

Corpus each time his anchor (the <strong>Dragon</strong>'s<br />

body) suffers damage to Health, though the<br />

amount inflicted is one step lower. For<br />

example, if the <strong>Dragon</strong> were to suffer a<br />

lethal wound, the Antecedent would suffer a<br />

bashing one. <strong>The</strong> risk is worth it, though, to<br />

have a readily moving anchor with which to<br />

haunt and feast.<br />

Antecedent souls that anchor to the<br />

<strong>Dragon</strong> gain access to a specialized Numen<br />

that can be activated when the anchor is in<br />

the process of manifesting Aspects. <strong>The</strong><br />

Antecedent takes advantage of the<br />

metamorphosing body’s instability and<br />

sprouts his own head, gaining contested<br />

access to control.<br />

• Two for One: When a <strong>Dragon</strong><br />

with Antecedent Passenger has manifested<br />

at least ten points of Aspects, the<br />

Antecedent may activate this Numen to<br />

sprout his own head on the body. This<br />

requires the expenditure of one Breath.<br />

A <strong>Dragon</strong> sporting more than one head<br />

gets a second instant action within the turn,<br />

at the position equal to her Initiative<br />

Modifier. That <strong>Dragon</strong> also gains a shortburst<br />

attack when performing a bite<br />

(Though she must be in agreement with<br />

her other head) and has her Inferno<br />

converted to a long-burst attack (also<br />

when in agreement with her other head).<br />

Both these actions gain a +1 bonus for the<br />

additional head.<br />

<strong>The</strong> benefit ends there. That second<br />

instant action? It belongs to the<br />

Antecedent, and he may act independently<br />

of the body. Usually such action can only<br />

involve his own head, but for a point of<br />

Willpower he can move limbs for the next<br />

three turns. This could prove disastrous if<br />

he has an agenda that doesn’t match that<br />

of his anchor.<br />

While forming a head on the <strong>Dragon</strong>’s<br />

body, the Antecedent cannot use his own<br />

Aspects. <strong>The</strong> extra head will remain until
