Challenger Pearl: <strong>The</strong> crystal brain of a<br />
Challenger gives it's wielder a bonus to<br />
resist toxins and diseases equal to its<br />
rating. She can also extend the amount<br />
of time she can go without food or sleep<br />
by a number of days equal to that same<br />
amount, as well as the number of hours<br />
without water, and the number of<br />
minutes without oxygen.<br />

Trickster Pearl: <strong>The</strong> crystal brain of a<br />
Trickster grants amazing fortune. A<br />
number of times per story equal to the<br />
Red Pearl’s rating, the mortal may decide<br />
to toss and re-roll a number of failed dice<br />
on a roll equal to that same rating. This<br />
can be initiated even after the roll is<br />
made.<br />

Inheritor Pearl: <strong>The</strong> crystal brain of an<br />
Inheritor is probably the greatest record<br />
of Oroboroi history that exists. At least,<br />
it would be if it could be proven<br />
accurate. <strong>The</strong> Red Pearl of an Inheritor<br />
serves as an encyclopedia of her life and<br />
those of her Antecedents. Once a day,<br />
the wielder of an Inheritor Pearl<br />
may dive into the memories of any<br />
<strong>Dragon</strong> that owned the Inheritor's Heart<br />
at some time (All but the Inheritor are<br />
dead, of course) for any reason he<br />
desires. While he is diving, he appears<br />
to be in REM sleep. <strong>The</strong> memory diver<br />
cannot interact with the events, though,<br />
he only witnesses them. <strong>The</strong> Diver<br />
experiences memories in real time, and<br />
may remain submerged in the<br />
encyclopedia for a number of hours<br />
equal to the rating of the Red Pearl. Any<br />
memories that occur after the time of<br />
harvest cannot be witnessed, as they<br />
were not yet recorded. It is also quite<br />
difficult to discern real memories from<br />
false ones.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>The</strong> Last Last Hand<br />
Hand<br />
Not every Oroboroi death is<br />
temporary. Hearts get lost, and find new<br />
owners. Eternity doesn’t last forever. If that<br />
doesn’t make any sense, think of it this way:<br />
<strong>The</strong>re’s always another to take up the mantle.<br />
Should a <strong>Dragon</strong> perish in one of the<br />
realms invisible (Including the Dreamtide),<br />
inescapably far from her Heart, she has<br />
played her Last Hand. Should a <strong>Dragon</strong>’s<br />
Heart be consumed (by mortal or otherwise),<br />
she has played her Last Hand. Should a<br />
<strong>Dragon</strong> perish by exsanguination,<br />
specifically during the blood-bathing ritual<br />
of the Knights of the Bloody Chalice, she<br />
has played her Last Hand. Should a <strong>Dragon</strong><br />
be one of the True Hearts, her first death and<br />
her Last Hand are one and the same.<br />
Upon dying this final time, a <strong>Dragon</strong><br />
becomes an Antecedent, as has been<br />
described earlier in this chapter. In the case<br />
of death by Heart consumption, the new<br />
Antecedent may be anchored to a Heart that<br />
still rests in chest. Despite being attached to<br />
a moving anchor, this Antecedent is not<br />
technically a passenger and cannot manifest<br />
a head.<br />
Matters Matters of of the the Form Form Corporeal<br />
Corporeal<br />
<strong>Dragon</strong>s heal at a preternatural rate,<br />
though not through some miracle of<br />
metabolism or mystic fate. No, <strong>Dragon</strong>s<br />
heal at the speed they do because the heat of<br />
their Furnace cauterizes the wounds they<br />
suffer. Though this process is not mercurial<br />
enough to be suspicious, <strong>Dragon</strong>s are<br />
surprisingly healthy.<br />
• For <strong>Dragon</strong>s who can spend two<br />
points of Breath, a single lethal wound can<br />
be removed as a reflexive action. This<br />
shifts any bashing wounds left one space<br />
on the meter. Even if the <strong>Dragon</strong> is<br />
unconscious or bleeding to death, she may<br />
remove lethal wounds in this manner.<br />
Resistant lethal damage cannot be healed<br />
in this manner.
