Lake, Turtle Creek, Fort Chipewean, Fort Vermillon, Hay River,<br />

Dunvegan, St. John's, and Pierre au Calumet in Athabasca River;<br />

being two posts in the Slave Lake, two of Fort Chipewean and<br />

four in the Peace River.<br />

Notwithstanding these gloomy appearances squires are manufactured<br />

yearly with as much speed and confidence as Captains,<br />

Lieutenants and Ensigns were in His Excellency Sir George<br />

Prevost's time when I was, two yeaas ago, in Montreal.<br />
