Left the entrance of the Red River and embarked on Lake 20th, MOll:
Winipik at 10 A. M., the wind having abate d.-Camped at the
Grand Marais, six leagues on our way from the entrance of the
Red River.
Left the Grand Marais at noon, Mr. Gl'ant's canoe turned into 27th,Tues:
the Bay of the Indian Portage, but. I wen t straight for the usual
one of Ite a la Biche, and arrived at the Sieur's Fort; (I) with a
fair wind, an hour-before sunset; neither Mr. Grant, nor the
canoes came.
A stormy day ;-1 am much concerlled for Mr. Grant and the 28th, Wec!o
canoes behind, for the wind fell and rose by intervals; it was
calm apparently for two hours and, then, frightful gusts of
wind came on a sudden.
My Bourgeois arrived in the morning, and the two boats soon 29th, Thu :

N. B.-This being a route you are as well acquainted with as
myself, I shall not trouble you with my voyaging diary till I
get back to the River qui appeUe Fort, this autumn.
