day, rain forced us ashore a few points below the Little River.<br />

Killed five cows and two buffalo calves and camped below the 4th, Sun:<br />

fort of Mountain a la Bosse about two leagues.-Nextday, over-<br />

100k and passed old Houle at the long point of the campment de<br />

l'Etredeux (I ).-Cam ped below the Loge de Paille.<br />

Passed the Rapid River. This day we passed about 400 bur- 6th, .Ttle, :<br />

faloes drowned in the river. They lay on almost every point,<br />

huddled together.-Arrived at Ange's River la Souris Fort; sun,<br />

.an honr high. Auge has sad comlliaints againts his H. B. opponent,<br />

By order of Mr. Grant, I took down three or foul' or five de- 8th, Tbur:<br />

·clarations of his own men against Mr. Donald McKay, in consequence<br />

of which we took him prisoner for firing at Ange and<br />

laying in ambush for his life. I was his guard and slept with<br />

hini at night.<br />

journal and write to his chief, Mr. McNabb. I went with him<br />

and, according to his promise, he came back quietly with me.<br />
