GENERAL SOCIAL CARE COUNCIL<br />

It shall be the duty <strong>of</strong> the Council to promote high st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>of</strong><br />

conduct <strong>and</strong> practice among social care workers; <strong>and</strong> high st<strong>and</strong>ards<br />

in their training. 6<br />

It shall be is the duty <strong>of</strong> the Council to carry out its functions<br />

effectively, efficiently <strong>and</strong> economically. 7<br />

HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL<br />

The main objective <strong>of</strong> the Council in exercising its functions shall be<br />

to safeguard the health <strong>and</strong> well-being <strong>of</strong> persons using or needing<br />

the services <strong>of</strong> registrants. 8<br />

NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL<br />

The main objective <strong>of</strong> the Council in exercising its functions shall be<br />

to safeguard the health <strong>and</strong> well-being <strong>of</strong> persons using or needing<br />

the services <strong>of</strong> registrants. 9<br />

PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF NORTHERN IRELAND<br />

The objects <strong>of</strong> the Society shall be to:<br />

(a) advance chemistry <strong>and</strong> pharmacy;<br />

(b) promote pharmaceutical education <strong>and</strong> the application <strong>of</strong><br />

pharmaceutical knowledge;<br />

(c) maintain the honour <strong>and</strong> safeguard <strong>and</strong> promote the interests <strong>of</strong><br />

the members <strong>of</strong> the Society in their exercise <strong>of</strong> the pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong><br />

pharmacy;<br />

(d) provide relief for distressed persons including members, former<br />

members, surviving partners <strong>and</strong> orphans. 10<br />

COUNCIL FOR HEALTHCARE REGULATORY EXCELLENCE<br />

The main objective <strong>of</strong> the Council is to promote the health, safety <strong>and</strong><br />

well-being <strong>of</strong> patients <strong>and</strong> other members <strong>of</strong> the public. 11<br />
