Having a sibling who went <strong>to</strong> college impacts participation in engineering<br />

activities, but not always in <strong>the</strong> expected direction. While siblings <strong>see</strong>m <strong>to</strong> act as role<br />

models enhancing participation in enrichment activities, it <strong>see</strong>ms <strong>to</strong> be <strong>the</strong> students who<br />

do not have siblings in college who are more likely <strong>to</strong> <strong>see</strong>k help from counseling and<br />

study activities. Having <strong>the</strong> support of significant o<strong>the</strong>rs for <strong>the</strong> pursuit of engineering<br />

apparently facilitates students bonding with o<strong>the</strong>rs for <strong>the</strong> purpose of studying.<br />
