SATLAB While overall there is no gender gap in satisfaction with lab work, we can see that the overall mean camouflages considerable differences among the students (Figure IIE- 3). Female variation in level of satisfaction with lab work is much greater than among male students: there is a curvilinear relationship with year in the program for females, showing that first-year students and senior students are more satisfied with lab work, while sophomore and junior students are the least satisfied.
