The distribution across majors varies somewhat by cohort. The proportion of<br />

electrical engineering majors varies from 18.9% in <strong>the</strong> freshman 2000 cohort <strong>to</strong> 37.3% in<br />

<strong>the</strong> junior cohort; <strong>the</strong> proportion of mechanical engineering majors varies from 23.8% in<br />

<strong>the</strong> senior cohort <strong>to</strong> 36.1% in <strong>the</strong> junior cohort; <strong>the</strong> proportion of chemical engineering<br />

majors varies from 10.8% in <strong>the</strong> junior cohort <strong>to</strong> 24.0% among seniors; <strong>the</strong> proportion of<br />

civil/environmental majors varies from 13.8 among seniors cohort <strong>to</strong> 26.5% among<br />

juniors. These fluctuations result from students’ choices without any formal enrollment<br />
