Under the rule, “Alternative Technology Generation Resources” means devices such as<br />

fuel cells that convert hydrogen rich fuels (including but not limited to natural gas), small<br />

Alternative <strong>Fuel</strong> Acquisition Act<br />

The Alternative <strong>Fuel</strong> Acquisition Act requires that 75% of vehicles acquired by the<br />

agencies and departments of state government and educational institutions must be<br />

capable of operating on alternative fuel or are gas-electric hybrid vehicles. The Act also<br />

creates an "Alternative <strong>Fuel</strong> Acquisition Loan Fund" to reimburse the expenses incurred<br />

in acquiring vehicles. The maximum amount loaned is not to exceed the actual cost of<br />

acquiring the vehicle or $3,000, whichever is less.<br />

The Clean Energy Grants Program, established under House Bill 251 (2004), was<br />

initiated in 2005 clean energy projects and hydrogen and fuel cell energy technology for<br />

municipalities and other eligible community, tribal, and state entities. Two million dollars<br />

in funding was made available to the program; requests for grants totaled nearly $7<br />
