State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) Alternative <strong>Fuel</strong>s Program<br />

The State Energy Conservation Office’s Alternative <strong>Fuel</strong>s Program demonstrates the<br />
positive environmental impact, technical feasibility and energy efficiency of domestically<br />
produced alternative fuels. Originally this program was designed to assist state<br />
agencies operate more of their fleets on alternative fuels but, through SECO’s innovative<br />
thinking and expanded initiatives, schools, local governments and private fleets are now<br />
involved.<br />
An upcoming SECO project involves the provision of planning support to the Alamo Area<br />
Council of Governments for a Hydrogen Highway Project.<br />

Texas State Technical College in Waco offers a <strong>Fuel</strong> Cell Technology Curriculum. The<br />
College developed the curriculum under the auspices of the Texas State Leadership<br />
Consortium for Curriculum Development and uses funding from the State Energy<br />
Conservation Office. The curriculum is posted on the Texas State Tech website and is<br />
available to interested Texas colleges.<br />
