By mid-2005, the program had invested more than $38 million in various fuel cell-related<br />

Third Frontier <strong>Fuel</strong> Cell Program<br />
The Third Frontier <strong>Fuel</strong> Cell Program provides grants to companies, not-for-profit<br />
organizations, educational institutions, government research institutes, or public body<br />
seeking to commercialize new products, manufacturing processes, technologies, or<br />
adopting or modifying existing components or systems that can reduce the cost of fuel<br />
cell systems or address technical and commercialization barriers<br />
Pre-Seed Fund Initiative<br />
The Pre-Seed Fund Initiative provides grants to Pre-Seed Investment Funds to increase<br />
the availability of professionally managed capital and associated services to accelerate<br />
the growth of Pre-Seed Ohio technology companies. The 10-year, $1.1 billion state<br />
initiative is designed to build world-class research facilities, support early stage capital<br />
formation and the development of new products, and to finance advanced manufacturing<br />
technologies to help existing industries become more productive.<br />
Ohio Research and Commercialization Grant Program<br />
The Ohio Research Commercialization Grant Program was created as part of the Ohio<br />
Third Frontier Project to promote the commercial viability of technologies originating from<br />
Small Business Innovation Research, Small Business Technology Transfer and<br />
Advanced Technology Program research and development projects. The intent is to<br />
support activities by small technology companies to realize the commercial potential of<br />
research projects and to promote the competitiveness of these companies through the<br />
augmentation of federal research and development funding.<br />
Validation Fund & Seed Fund Initiative<br />
The Validation Fund & Seed Fund Initiative provides grants to Validation Funds and<br />
Seed Funds to increase the availability of professionally managed capital and associated<br />
services to accelerate the growth of early stage Ohio technology companies.<br />
Product Development Pilot Program<br />
The Third Frontier Product Development Pilot Program is seen as a way for Ohio nonprofit<br />
and academic institutions to deliver product development support and resources<br />
that will help small and medium sized manufacturers with the tasks needed to<br />
successfully develop and sell new products<br />
Wright Centers of Innovation<br />
The Wright Centers of Innovation program provides grants to support large-scale worldclass<br />
research and technology development platforms designed to accelerate the pace<br />
of Ohio commercialization. Wright Centers are to be collaborations among Ohio higher<br />
education institutions, non-profit research organizations, and Ohio companies in the<br />
areas of advanced materials, bioscience, power and propulsion, information technology<br />
and instruments, controls and electronics.<br />
