The Energy Loan Program can loan to individuals, businesses, schools, cities, counties,<br />

special districts, state and federal agencies, public corporations, cooperatives, tribes,<br />

and non-profits in the state. <strong>Fuel</strong> cell projects are eligible for SELP loans.<br />

Business Energy Tax Credit<br />

The Oregon Department of Energy offers the Business Energy Tax Credit to those who<br />

invest in less-polluting transportation fuels. Hydrogen fuel is eligible.<br />

Trade, business or rental property owners who pay taxes for a business site in Oregon<br />

are eligible for the tax credit. Project owners can also be Oregon non-profit<br />

organizations, tribes or public entities that partner with an Oregon business or resident<br />

who has an Oregon tax liability. The credit of 35% of eligible project costs includes all<br />

costs directly related to the project, including equipment cost, engineering and design<br />

fees, materials, supplies and installation costs. Loan fees and permit costs also may be<br />

claimed. Replacing equipment at the end of its useful life or equipment required to meet<br />

codes or other government regulations is not eligible. Maintenance costs are not<br />

eligible.<br />
