The goal of Oregon’s 2005 Renewable Energy Action Plan is to encourage and<br />
accelerate the sustainable production of energy from renewable sources, stimulate<br />
economic development, particularly in rural parts of the state. <strong>Fuel</strong> cell-related actions<br />
outlined in the plan include:<br />

• Installing two hundred 5-kW fuel cells, powered by both renewable and nonrenewable<br />
sources, during 2006.<br />
• Providing support to Oregon companies in attracting funding from regionally<br />
targeted federal fuel cell and hydrogen generation programs.<br />
• Encouraging the Oregon University System to explore fuel cell technology and<br />
to establish a fuel cell technology center.<br />
• Modifying the Oregon Department of Energy web site and publications to<br />
identify more clearly how a fuel cell owner can apply for tax credits.<br />
