333 Industrial-Organizational Psychology (3 credits) Examination of how behaviors and attitudes can be improved through hiring practices, training programs, and feedback systems; building more successful organizations by improving the performance and well-being of its people. Topics may include personnel decisions, personnel training, work motivation, job satisfaction, leadership, human resource management, and research expertise. Prerequisites: 110 and 111 (with at least a B- in either). (SBA) 350 Topics in Psychology (3 credits) Special topics of current interest are covered in depth. (SBA) Capstone Experience 489 Senior Thesis Preparation (1 credit) Under the close supervision of an assigned faculty thesis advisor, students prepare a formal senior thesis proposal. Offered spring semester, junior year. Prerequisites: At least a C in Psyc 290 and 291, at least a 2.30 psychology GPA, plus department permission. 490 Senior Thesis (3 credits) Individual study required of all majors, whereby students, under the close supervision of an assigned thesis advisor, conduct research (either experimental or library) to test original hypotheses. Offered fall, January and spring terms. Prerequisites: At least a C in Psyc 290 and 291, at least a 2.30 psychology GPA, at least a C in Psyc 489, plus a thesis-advisor approved senior thesis proposal. (SBA) Psychology Requirements for the major: 39 credits in psychology, distributed as follows. Psychology majors must successfully complete three introductory courses (110, 111, and 290) by the end of spring semester, sophomore year in order to graduate on time. At least a B- is required in 110 or 111 and at least a C is required in 290 and 291 in order to progress in the major. Psyc 290 may be taken only one time for psychology credit.
