At <strong>Hartwick</strong>, students do not major in education but complete a program for certification<br />

coupled with a content major or major/minor combination. <strong>Hartwick</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers education programs<br />

leading to certification in Childhood (grades 1- 6), Middle Childhood (grades 5 – 9) and<br />

Adolescence (grades 7-12) education, K-12 Music Education, and K-12 Art Education. The<br />

Childhood Program requires a major and a minor (chosen from each A, B column below).<br />

Students may also create their own minor, which must be approved by the Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Education.<br />
