implement objectives and strategies pertaining to compensation, training<br />

and development, assessment, staffing and labor relations. Specific<br />

regulatory and ethical issues are covered, as well as the interrelationships<br />

<strong>of</strong> the human resource decisions to other management functions.<br />

Prerequisite: Busa 340 and Busa 341.<br />

395, 495 Internship in Business Administration (3-6 credits) This<br />

course provides an opportunity to further the pr<strong>of</strong>essional career<br />

development <strong>of</strong> students. Placements are designed to utilize academic<br />

concepts in a work setting and to bring practical knowledge <strong>of</strong> a<br />

functioning business back to the classroom. The learning experience is<br />

designed to take place in an organization appropriate to the career<br />

interests <strong>of</strong> the student. Prerequisites: junior or senior standing, business<br />

administration majors only, permission <strong>of</strong> the department, and<br />

satisfactory internship qualifications.<br />

440 Entrepreneurship (3 credits) Students explore the role <strong>of</strong><br />

entrepreneurship in today’s business environment. This course integrates<br />

macro-economic analysis, marketing research, financial planning,<br />

strategy formulation and other functional business considerations.<br />

Activities take the students from the formation <strong>of</strong> a small business using<br />

planning s<strong>of</strong>tware to exploring the issues involved in registering a new<br />

company on one <strong>of</strong> the stock exchanges using venture capital.<br />

Prerequisite: Busa 380 and Busa 381.<br />

441 International Business (3 credits) Students assume the role <strong>of</strong><br />

general manager <strong>of</strong> a multinational business. In addition to learning the<br />

international aspects <strong>of</strong> the production, marketing, human resource and<br />

financing functions, students gain new knowledge related to dealing with<br />

foreign currencies, customers, workers and cultures. Prerequisite: Busa<br />

380 and Busa 381.<br />

480 Business Policy and Strategy (3 credits) Students take the role<br />

<strong>of</strong> top management <strong>of</strong> a complex, multinational organization. Students<br />

draw upon their experiences as managers in various functional areas to<br />

deal with the larger organizational issues <strong>of</strong> corporate strategy, policy<br />

formulation, values, and vision. Prerequisite: Busa 440 and Busa 441.<br />

490 Senior Thesis (3 credits) Each business administration major is<br />

required to write, in consultation with a faculty member in the<br />

department, a research paper which demonstrates the ability to<br />

investigate and analyze some aspect <strong>of</strong> business theory and practice in<br />

considerable detail, and to interpret their research on this subject in a<br />

comprehensive manner. Prerequisite: Busa 440 and Busa 441.<br />
