A student not in good financial standing with the <strong>College</strong> may not be<br />

allowed to register for courses and is subject to possible dismissal from<br />

the <strong>College</strong>. No student will be graduated, nor receive a transcript <strong>of</strong><br />

courses or honorable dismissal from <strong>Hartwick</strong> <strong>College</strong> unless all bills due<br />

the <strong>College</strong> or any <strong>Hartwick</strong> <strong>College</strong> organization have been paid. This<br />

regulation applies to other unpaid financial obligations in which<br />

nonpayment may involve the reputation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hartwick</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

A charge <strong>of</strong> $25 will be assessed when a personal check is <strong>of</strong>fered in<br />

payment <strong>of</strong> charges on a student's account and the check is not honored.<br />

Tuition Payment Plans<br />

The <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers a 10 month interest free tuition payment plan. Tuition<br />

Management Systems administers this plan for the <strong>College</strong>. The Plan<br />

starts on July 1. A five month payment plan is available for those students<br />

requiring only a semester plan. Please contact the Office <strong>of</strong> Student<br />

Accounts for information regarding these plans.<br />

Refund Policies<br />

Refunds <strong>of</strong> tuition will be made according to the following schedule. The<br />

fall billing period includes one-half <strong>of</strong> the academic year. The spring<br />

billing period includes the second half <strong>of</strong> the academic year. After the 10th<br />

week <strong>of</strong> classes, no refund <strong>of</strong> tuition will be made except where causes<br />

entirely beyond the student’s control compel withdrawal. Requests for a<br />

cash refund should be made to the Office <strong>of</strong> Student Accounts.<br />

Fall or Spring Term Percent refunded (17 weeks)<br />

First week <strong>of</strong> class 90%<br />

Second week <strong>of</strong> class 80%<br />

Third week <strong>of</strong> class 70%<br />

Fourth week <strong>of</strong> class 60%<br />

Fifth week <strong>of</strong> class 50%<br />

Sixth week <strong>of</strong> class 40%<br />

Seventh week <strong>of</strong> class 30%<br />

Eighth week <strong>of</strong> class 20%<br />

Ninth week <strong>of</strong> class 10%<br />

Tenth week <strong>of</strong> class 5%<br />

Students dropped or suspended from <strong>Hartwick</strong> <strong>College</strong> will be allowed no<br />

refund <strong>of</strong> tuition. Students granted a leave <strong>of</strong> absence during a term will<br />

receive credit on their account according to the refund schedules.<br />

As charges are adjusted accordingly, so will the financial aid. Federal<br />

sources <strong>of</strong> aid will be recalculated according to the current guidelines as<br />

approved by the Department <strong>of</strong> Education. The standard adjustment is<br />

based on the differential in the original charges and the final billed<br />

charges and the percent <strong>of</strong> federal aid, excluding Federal Work-Study, in<br />

the aid package. The recalculation <strong>of</strong> <strong>College</strong> aid programs may be based<br />

on the percent charged. State programs are tied to the guidelines as<br />

provided by each state. The financial aid <strong>of</strong>fice is responsible for all aid<br />

recalculation.<br />
