101, 102 Elementary Latin A two-term sequence at the introductory<br />

level for those students who have no prior knowledge <strong>of</strong> Latin or who<br />

need to review the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> the language. Students should consult<br />

with the instructor to ensure correct placement in this sequence.<br />

101 Elementary Latin I (3 credits) Introduction to Latin grammar,<br />

vocabulary and pronunciation. (LN1)<br />

102 Elementary Latin II (3 credits) Continuation <strong>of</strong> the study <strong>of</strong><br />

Latin grammar and readings <strong>of</strong> classical authors. Prerequisite: Latin 101<br />

or 1 or 2 years <strong>of</strong> high school Latin. (LN2)<br />

215, 216 Intermediate Latin (3 credits) First term: selected readings<br />

in prose and poetry; advanced grammar. (LN3) Second term: Latin<br />

poetry. Prerequisite: Latin 101, 102 or equivalent.<br />

321, 322 Readings in Latin Literature (3 credits) First term: lyric<br />

and elegiac poetry. Second term: selections from the Roman historians.<br />

Prerequisite: Latin 215, 216 or equivalent.<br />
