Description<br />

Activities or actions associated with buildings and structures constructed after<br />

1970 are exempt from review, with the following exceptions: A property built<br />

after 1970 may be subject to review if it has been determined the exceptional<br />

historical importance of the property makes it eligible for inclusion on the<br />

NRHP.<br />

These structures have minimal or no visible surface manifestations and include<br />

earthen and concrete-lined trenches, French drains, underground tanks, vaults,<br />

underground pipelines, sewer lines, and other structures that are typically<br />

located below ground and were never intended to be routinely accessed by<br />

people.<br />

3. Storage tanks These structures include surface and subsurface utility tanks used in routine<br />

facility operations. Associated concrete slab foundations, scaffolding, piping,<br />

or spill-management retaining walls are also included.<br />

4. Wells and<br />

boreholes<br />

5. Utility poles and<br />

towers<br />

These structures include characterization wells, monitoring wells, drinking<br />

water wells, industrial water wells, injection wells, and various types of test<br />

wells and boreholes. Wells associated with homesteading and other early<br />

historic uses of the area are not included.<br />

These structures include power lines, microwave towers, seismic data<br />

collection and transmission facilities, and other types of communication<br />

towers.<br />

6. Utility structures These structures provide housing or control of utility equipment or access to<br />

underground utility equipment, such as pump houses, electrical substations,<br />

boiler tanks, or equipment monitoring shacks.<br />

7. Mobile trailers These structures are used for temporary office space and/or storage.<br />
