(k) There were no prosecutions and the attitude <strong>of</strong> the people was quite satisfactory.<br />
(i) The total cost <strong>of</strong> the operations amounted to Rs. 407-10-6.<br />
(7) I believe the results obtained are fairly correct.<br />
In conclusion I beg to bring to notice the services rendered by Subdivisional Officer<br />
MaungNgwe Kaingin checking the schedules and totals, which enabled me to get the figures<br />
in by the 6th March. He worked early and late and thoroughly.<br />

I HAVE the honour to acknowledge receipt <strong>of</strong> a copy <strong>of</strong> <strong>Census</strong> Circular No. 24 <strong>of</strong> 190 1,<br />
and to submit my report in connection with the <strong>Census</strong> operations on the river which came<br />
under my orders.<br />
{a) The preparation <strong>of</strong> the circle list necessitated no small amount <strong>of</strong> labour, as I had<br />
to obtain a sketch <strong>of</strong> the foreshore and demarcate same to avoid any mistakes about boundary<br />
limits on the <strong>Census</strong> night.<br />

(b) Boat-numbering.—None was made, as boats had been numbered when taking out<br />
licenses and they are constantly moving about.<br />
(c) The Port Officer was the Charge Superintendent.<br />
(e) The work carried out by each Supervisor and Enumerator was to my satisfaction.<br />
{f) The circle summaries, together with the charge summary, were sent to the President<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Moulmein Municipality on the morning <strong>of</strong> the 2nd and a supplementary one on the 5th<br />
March 1 90 1,<br />

the S. S. Maharants figures having only been received on the 4th afternoon.<br />
(h) There were no prosecutions.<br />
(z) The total cost in connection with the river <strong>Census</strong> is as follows :<br />
