75 - INTRODUCTION TO CORRECTIONS (3<br />

UNITS) CSU<br />

This course surveys the total correctional cycle and the<br />

relationships of its components, including historical,<br />

theoretical and philosophical explanations of criminal<br />

behavior; statistics and research findings; employment<br />

opportunities; and employment requirements. This<br />

course will also examine the basic nature of correctional<br />

work; aims and objectives of correctional administration;<br />

probation and parole; skills; knowledge and attitudes<br />

required for employment in this field.<br />

86 - ISSUES IN LAW ENFORCEMENT (3 UNITS)<br />

This course includes discussion, study, and analysis<br />

of issues related to law enforcement including people<br />

with disabilities, gangs culture and dynamics, domestic<br />

violence, use of force options and other tenets of effective<br />

law enforcement.<br />

319 – RESEARCH METHODS IN CRIMINAL<br />

JUSTICE (3 UNITS) CSU<br />

Introduction to research methodologies used most often<br />

in the study of crime and criminal behavior, police/<br />

court systems, and correctional institutions, policies,<br />

and programs. Students will acquire the knowledge to<br />

conceptualize a research problem and develop a number of<br />

complementary designs, measurement, and data collection<br />

approaches to bring evidence to bear on a criminal justice<br />

policy issue.<br />

750 – ETHICS IN PUBLIC SAFETY (3 UNITS)<br />

CSU<br />

This course explores ethical dilemmas, value definitions,<br />

and their application to decision making, by police,<br />

court, probation, parole, corrections, and private security<br />

personnel. Remediation strategies relating to unethical<br />

behavior by individuals and groups will also be addressed<br />

in this course.<br />

Prerequisites: High school chemistry or one semester of college<br />

chemistry. Concurrent enrollment in lecture and laboratory section<br />

is required.<br />

This course in human anatomy is planned for the student<br />

of pre-kinesiology, and pre-nursing. Subjects emphasized<br />

are the surface structures, bones, joints, muscles and organs<br />

of the human body. Demonstrations are made through<br />

the use of models and the human skeleton. Completion<br />

of Anatomy 1 constitutes one option for fulfilling<br />

requirements in the R. N. program. Not open to credit to<br />

students who have completed Physiology 8 and 9 with a<br />

grade of “C” or better.<br />

This course in human anatomy is planned for the student<br />

organs of the human body, and the dissection of higher<br />

vertebrates. Demonstrations are made through the use<br />

of models, the human skeleton, and cat dissection .<br />

Completion of Anatomy 1 constitutes one option for<br />

fulfilling requirements in the R. N. program. Not open to<br />

credit to students who have completed Physiology 8 and<br />

9 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
