Course provides hands-on experience with spreadsheets,<br />

graphs, and reports. Covers use of formulas, functions and<br />

macros to analyze data and automate tasks.<br />

This course provides students with in-depth, hands-on<br />

training with office database applications. Students will<br />

design, implement and manage relational databases,<br />

and extract information from a database and output it<br />

in customized forms, reports, mailings and web pages.<br />

Prepares students for certification exam in Access.<br />

88 - MICROCOMPUTER OFFICE APPLICATIONS:<br />

Course provides hands-on experience with desktop<br />

publishing software. Creation of advertisements, flyers,<br />

brochures, business forms, reports, newsletters, and<br />

presentations using accepted principles of design. Covers<br />

selection and use of desktop publishing hardware.<br />

design principles. Students will create and deliver<br />

Recommended Prerequisite: Completion of Business 60 with a letter<br />

grade of ‘C’ or better or the ability to touch type at 25 words per minute<br />

with 95% accuracy. Corequisite: Computer Information Systems 23.<br />

This is an introduction to the principles and operation of<br />

computer systems used in business. Students learn about<br />

Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database and<br />

Internet through hands-on interaction with the computer.<br />

7 - INTRODUCTION TO MULTIMEDIA (3 UNITS)<br />

Recommended Prerequisite: Completion of Computer Information<br />

Systems 1 or equivalent with a letter grade of ‘C’ or better..<br />

Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in CIS 23 or 64.<br />

This course provides the student with the understanding<br />

of the capabilities and limitations of the multimedia<br />

technology, the planning process, the multimedia building<br />

blocks, the authoring process, and the distribution and<br />

playback of the application.<br />

This course introduces the components of Local Area<br />

Networks. It is designed to provide information and<br />

training in the use of LANs, their terminology and<br />

topologies.<br />
