Recommended: Students with no fabrication background would<br />
benefit from completing Engineering Technology 081 prior to taking<br />
this course.<br />
This course provides students with advanced laboratory<br />
experiences in electronic fabrication principles. Topics<br />
included are: fiber optic connections and patch panels,<br />
splicing techniques, OTDR testing & measurements,<br />
termination procedures & techniques for fiber,<br />
troubleshooting and documentation for fiber optic systems.<br />
When applicable, surface mount soldering and printed<br />
circuit board repair techniques are covered.<br />
150 – PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC<br />
CONTROLLERS (4 UNITS) CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Engineering Technology 050 with a grade<br />
of “C” or better.<br />
This course introduces programmable logic controllers<br />
(PLC). Students will study basic PLC systems including<br />
hardware and software interfacing, programming,<br />
wiring diagrams, timers, counters, programming control<br />
instructions, data instructions, math instructions, shift<br />
registers, program editing, machine process controls, and<br />
troubleshooting.<br />

Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Electrical Construction and<br />
Maintenance 142.<br />
This course introduces the theory, application, maintenance<br />
and circuitry of electrical motors and other power<br />
equipment.<br />
142 – DIGITAL AUTOMATION TECHNIQUES<br />
(1 UNIT)<br />
Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Electrical Construction and<br />
Maintenance 141.<br />
This laboratory course introduces the theory and<br />
application of electronic control systems, use of restraints<br />
in ladder logic diagrams, actuators, digital sensors, end<br />
effectors, process control, pneumatic systems, personal<br />
computer integrated systems and interfacing.<br />

10 - EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN I -<br />
MODULE A (6); MODULE B (2)<br />
This course is offered in two modules. Module A (lecture) and Module<br />
B (Lab) must be taken concurrently.<br />
Recommended Preparation: For Module A, eligibility for English 101<br />
is recommended.<br />
For Module B, a valid American Heart Association<br />
Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support card must be<br />
presented to the instructor on the first day of class. Upon<br />
the successful completion of Modules 010A and 010B,<br />
the student will be eligible to take the National Registry<br />
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) examination. This<br />
course is approved by the <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> County Emergency<br />
Medical Systems Agency.<br />

Emergency Medical Technician 01A Ambulance<br />
The primary focus of this course is to provide basic<br />
emergency medical care and transportation for critical<br />
and emergent patients who access the emergency medical<br />
system. The curriculum adheres to the Department of<br />
Transportation (D.O.T.) and Basic Life Support guidelines.<br />

010B Emergency Department Assistant 010B (2 units)<br />
Emergency Medical Technician 01B Ambulance<br />
This course allows students to practice and perform the<br />
psychomotor skills within the EMT scope of practice<br />
to include airway and breathing, cardiovascular and<br />
pharmacological interventions, and trauma care. A 20-hour<br />
outside clinical experience is a required part of this course.<br />
