This course is a continuation of Art 201. Various systems<br />
of graphic expression are explored and several media are<br />
used. Individual projects are included.<br />
204 - LIFE DRAWING I (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Recommended prerequisite: Completion of Art 201 and 501 with<br />
grades of “C” or better.<br />
This is a beginning course in drawing the figure from<br />
life. Drawings with various time limitations are done to<br />
explore the relationships of movement, form, and space<br />
as they pertain to the human body. Emphasis is placed<br />
on proportion, structure and anatomy. This course is<br />
recommended for all art majors.<br />
205 - LIFE DRAWING II (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 204 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This is an intermediate course in drawing the human figure.<br />
Emphasis is placed on developing extended knowledge of<br />
human anatomy and acquiring enhanced skill in rendering<br />
its essential structure.<br />
206 - LIFE DRAWING III (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 205 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This is an advanced course in drawing the human figure.<br />
Emphasis is placed on developing an advanced knowledge<br />
of human anatomy and acquiring advanced skill in<br />
rendering its essential structure.<br />
207 - LIFE DRAWING IV (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 206 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This is an advanced course in drawing the human figure.<br />
Emphasis is placed on developing an advanced knowledge<br />
of human anatomy and acquiring advanced skill in<br />
rendering its essential structure.<br />
300 – INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING (3 UNITS)<br />
UC:CSU<br />
This course is an introduction to various painting materials,<br />
media and techniques. The course also is a survey of<br />
painting methods both contemporary and traditional.<br />
301 - WATERCOLOR PAINTING I (3 UNITS)<br />
UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 300 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
In this course students will be exposed to various tools<br />
and media associated with watercolor representation.<br />
Project will stress the development of personal style<br />
and developing eye recognition of various watercolor<br />
techniques.<br />
302 - WATERCOLOR PAINTING II (3 UNITS)<br />
UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 301 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This course provides continued experience with selected<br />
aqueous media; watercolor and gouache, technical<br />
control,organizational and compositional skills are<br />
emphasized.<br />
303 - WATERCOLOR PAINTING III (3 UNITS)<br />
UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 302 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
A continuation of various transparent watercolor<br />
techniques with strong emphasis on the development of<br />
concepts and friskit techniques.<br />
304 - ACRYLIC PAINTING I (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 300 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This course will provide students an overview of acrylic<br />
painting techniques with an emphasis on materials used<br />
in acquiring these skills.<br />
305 - ACRYLIC PAINTING II (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 304 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
A continuation of Acrylic Painting I with emphasis on<br />
composition.<br />
306 - ACRYLIC PAINTING III (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 305 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
A continuation of Acrylic Painting II with emphasis on<br />
various concepts, styles and techniques.<br />
310 - BEGINNING OIL PAINTING (2 UNITS)<br />
UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 300 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This course presents an overview of basic oil painting<br />
techniques and materials. Composition, color, and form<br />
are studied through a range of projects in historical context<br />
to bring the individual in touch with contemporary ideas<br />
in the field of oil painting.<br />
311 - INTERMEDIATE OIL PAINTING (2 UNITS)<br />
UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 310 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
A continuation of various historical techniques in oil<br />
painting. An extension of Beginning Oil Painting focusing<br />
on a broader range of contemporary issues with an<br />
emphasis on the figure. Historical oil painting techniques<br />
are explored.<br />
312 - ADVANCED OIL PAINTING (2 UNITS)<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of Art 311 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
A continuation of Intermediate Oil Painting with emphasis<br />
