The Associate of Science in Computer Science and<br />
Engineering is intended for students who are planning to<br />
transfer to a university, including University of California<br />
(UC) or California State University (CSU) as Computer<br />
Science or Engineering majors, particularly UCLA.<br />
Additional lower-division general education may be required<br />
for transfer, depending on the university selected. Students<br />
will need to consult a counselor and the Transfer Center for<br />
specific information regarding preparation for the intended<br />
major at the colleges/universities of choice, in order to<br />
facilitate a seamless transition.<br />
Students interested in earning this degree must complete the<br />
following with at least 60 semester units total:<br />
1 Complete LAHC’s Graduation Plan B, including English<br />
101 – minimum of 18 units<br />
2. Complete the Computer Science and Engineering Core –<br />
minimum of 30 units<br />
3. Complete a minimum of 12 additional units selected from<br />
a list of courses typically required for various Computer<br />
Science and Engineering major options at CSU and UC<br />
institutions.<br />

The Associate of Arts degree in Speech Communication is<br />
designed for students who either intend to transfer to the CSU<br />
system campuses, or other four-year institutions, as Speech<br />
Communication majors, or who want to develop and enhance<br />
their skills in oral communication. The classes prepare<br />
students who seek careers in which effective communication<br />
skills are needed such as education, law, public relations, and<br />
service industry. The AA degree consists of a core general<br />
education component, 18 units in the major, and additional<br />
elective units as needed to reach a minimum of 60 units<br />
overall.<br />
