TECHNOLOGY<br />

27 – WILDLAND FIRE FIGHTER (3 UNITS) CSU<br />

This course provides information on the characteristics<br />

and behavior of wild land fires in the Southern California<br />

watershed systems. It covers the organization, staffing,<br />

equipment, initial fire attack procedures, large fire<br />

management procedures as well as the tactical strategies<br />

used on large fires.<br />

93 - INTERMEDIATE INCIDENT COMMAND<br />

(1.5 UNITS) (I-300)<br />

This course teaches the intermediate features of the<br />

incident command system. Topics include: orientation,<br />

principles and features, organization, incident fatalities,<br />

incident resources and common responsibilities. Intended<br />

for students who will pursue a career with a wild land fire<br />

suppression agency or for a specialty with a municipal<br />

fire control agency.<br />

101 - WILDLAND FIRE BEHAVIOR (3 UNITS) CSU<br />

Lecture 3 hours and 20 minutes per week.<br />

This course of study is to provide wild land fire<br />

fighting personal the information necessary to<br />

understand wild land fire behavior. Includes National<br />

Wildfire Coordinating Group curriculum for the S-290<br />

Intermediate fire behavior course. Discusses effects of<br />

weather, topography and fuels on fire behavior. Intended<br />

for preparation for employment with public safety<br />

department or other agencies that cross train fire and law<br />

enforcement personnel.<br />

102 - WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER SAFETY AND<br />

SURVIVAL (3 UNITS) CSU<br />

Lecture 3 hours and 20 minutes per week.<br />

This course includes a study of factors that lead to unsafe<br />

working conditions in wild land fire fighting and includes<br />

the procedures to limit risk. Two important documents<br />

designed to increase safety (1 UNIT) The Ten Standard<br />

Fire Orders and (2 UNITS) The Eighteen Situations That<br />

Shout Watch Out are studied in detail. This course is part<br />

of a certificate program required for employment with<br />

Public Safety Departments and other agencies that cross<br />

train fire and law enforcement personnel.<br />

103 - WILDLAND FIRE OPERATIONS (3 UNITS)<br />

CSU<br />

Lecture 3 hours and 20 minutes per week.<br />

This course of study presents the command structure<br />

and operational processes for ground and air operations<br />

in the control of wild land fires. Fixed wing aircraft<br />

and helicopters are discussed. Includes interagency<br />

relationships, mobilization, trainee assignments, the<br />

incident assignment kit. Preparation for employment<br />

with public safety departments and other agencies that<br />

cross train fire and law enforcement personnel.<br />

104 - WILDLAND PUBIC INFORMATION,<br />

PREVENTION AND INVESTIGATION (3 UNITS)<br />

CSU<br />

Lecture 3 hours and 20 minutes per week.<br />

A course of study which presents the information<br />

necessary to understand the roles and functions<br />

of the Wild land Fire Information Officer, wild<br />

land fire prevention, and investigation of wild land<br />

fires. Preparation for employment with public safety<br />

departments and other agencies that cross train fire and<br />

law enforcement personnel.<br />

105 - WILDLAND LOGISTICS, FINANCE AND<br />

PLANNING (3 UNITS)<br />

Lecture 3 hours and 20 minutes per week.<br />

This course explains the roles, responsibilities and<br />

function of the planning, logistics, and finance sections<br />

that are utilized during the control of wild land fires. The<br />

course follows National Wildfire Coordinating Group<br />

criteria. Preparation for employment with public safety<br />

departments and other agencies that cross train fire and<br />

law enforcement personnel.<br />

302 - BASIC INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM<br />

(1 UNIT)<br />

This course is designed to enable personnel to operate<br />

efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident<br />

Command System (ICS). This course focuses on the<br />

management of single resources.<br />

313 - INTRODUCTION TO WILDLAND FIRE<br />

BEHAVIOR (.05)<br />

This course of study is to provide wild land fire fighting<br />

personnel the information necessary to understand<br />

wild Land fire behavior. Includes National Wild<br />

fire Coordination Group curriculum for the S-290 –<br />

Intermediate fire Behavior course. Discusses effects of<br />

weather, topography and fuels on fire behavior. Intended<br />

for preparation for employment with public safety<br />

departments or other agencies that cross train fire and<br />
