051 - ADAPTED SPORTS AND GAMES (1 UNIT)<br />

This course is designed to meet the needs of students with<br />

disabilities to develop gross motor skills and to facilitate<br />

participation in life-long activities. Activities are designed<br />

to enhance fitness, self-esteem and social interaction. The<br />

main focus of the class is skills development. Students<br />

with disabilities need a medical prescription for exercises<br />

from physician. This course requires 3:05 hours per week<br />

of student lab work to be scheduled as arranged with<br />

COURSES FOR<br />

KINESIOLOGY MAJORS<br />

These courses may or may not meet credit for Kinesiology<br />

activity; they are required for Kinesiology and Recreation<br />

majors and minors.<br />

Note: UC grants a maximum of eight semester units of<br />

credit for Kinesiology Activity courses except for P.E. 712.<br />

100 - INTRODUCTION TO KINESIOLOGY<br />

(3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />

It is recommended that the student be a kinesiology or recreation major<br />

or minor. This course deals with professional kinesiology and does not<br />

satisfy state-required activity.<br />

This course is designed to acquaint the major or minor<br />

student in health, kinesiology, or recreation with the<br />

scope and significance of these three professions. It<br />

covers kinesiology concepts, historical background,<br />

interrelationship with other fields, major course<br />

requirements, job opportunities, teaching, and professional<br />

duties and responsibilities. (Can be applied toward Associate<br />

in Arts Degree in Kinesiology).<br />

103 - INTRODUCTION TO COACHING<br />

ATHLETICS COED (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />

It is recommended that the student be a kinesiology or recreation major<br />

or minor or coach of men or women’s sports.<br />

This course focuses encouragement of sound coaching<br />

principles and training methods for men and women. It<br />

presents information to help the coach, the kinesiology<br />

major who will be dealing with athletes, the leader of<br />

recreational programs, the kinesiology instructor, and<br />

the player. The concepts, problems, philosophy, and<br />

modern-day techniques relating to competitive athletics<br />

are discussed.<br />

COURSES FOR DANCE MAJORS<br />

032 - INTRODUCTION TO DANCE AND DANCE<br />

HISTORY (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />

An introduction to dance exploring its many forms and<br />

purposes including social ethnic, ritual, art and therapy.<br />

Opportunities to observe, study, experience and discuss<br />

dance and to understand how dance influences our culture.<br />

(Can be applied toward Associate in Arts Degree in Kinesiology).<br />

LEARNING FOUNDATIONS<br />

1 - ADAPTED KEYBOARDING (1 UNIT) RPT 3 -<br />

NDA<br />

Designed for students with verified disabilities, this class<br />

provides individual instruction in keyboarding basics.<br />

Adaptive technology may also be introduced for successful<br />

access to keyboard or screen. Basic reading and writing<br />

skills are not addressed in this course. This course requires<br />

3:40 hours per week of student lab work to be scheduled<br />

as arranged with instructor. 3:40 TBA<br />

2 - ADAPTIVE WORD PROCESSING OPERATIONS<br />

(1 UNIT) RPT 3 NDA<br />

Designed for Students with verified disabilities, this<br />

class provides individual training in the use of adaptive<br />

word processing technologies. Students learn skills at an<br />

individual pace using adapted hardware and software.<br />

Knowledge of keyboarding skills is helpful but not<br />

required. Basic reading and writing skills are not addressed<br />

in this course.This course requires 3:40 hours per week<br />

of student lab work to be scheduled as arranged with<br />

instructor. 3:40 TBA<br />

3 - ADAPTIVE COMPUTER OPERATIONS<br />

(1 UNIT) RPT 3 - NDA<br />

Designed for students with verified disabilities, this class<br />

provides individual assessment of assistive technology<br />

needs. Students will learn how to use the latest technologies<br />

(hardware and software) to make computer applications<br />

accessible. The type of technologies and the extent of the<br />

training will depend on the student’s disability and needed<br />

applications. Knowledge of keyboarding skills is helpful<br />

but not required. Basic reading and writing skills are not<br />

addressed in this course. This course requires 3:40 hours<br />

per week of student lab work to be scheduled as arranged<br />
