501 - BEGINNING TWO-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN<br />
(3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Recommended corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Art 201.<br />
This course presents an introduction to the fundamentals of<br />
art which involve creative exploration of visual elements<br />
and principles of design. The student experiences color,<br />
color theory, light and dark value, line, texture, and shape,<br />
and their integration in art structure.<br />
502 - BEGINNING THREE-DIMENSIONAL<br />
DESIGN (3 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 501 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
The principles of three-dimensional design are studied.<br />
Explorations are made in materials and media involving<br />
considerations of space. Applied design problems in<br />
three dimensions as well as creative sculptured forms and<br />
assemblages are included.<br />
503 - INTERMEDIATE DESIGN (3 UNITS)<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of Art 501 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
A studio art course focused on further studies of the<br />
elements of art and the principles of design. These include<br />
line, shape, value, texture, color, space, and composition.<br />
521 - ART GALLERY TECHNIQUES (3 UNITS)<br />

An introduction to the theory and practice of gallery<br />
display and management. Students will gain a working<br />
knowledge of successful art world and college galleries.<br />
The course will cover exhibition preparation, funding, field<br />
trips and guest lectures. This course may require 2.05 hours<br />
per week of student lab work to be scheduled as arranged<br />

633 - INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER<br />
GRAPHICS (3 UNITS) CSU<br />
This is an introductory course in computer graphics<br />
designed to introduce students to the microcomputer and<br />
its operating system and applications as used as tools by<br />
artists and graphic designers.<br />
637 - PRESENTATION GRAPHICS (3 UNITS) CSU<br />
Students learn to prepare and optimize images, design and<br />
create layouts and interactive environments specific to a<br />
variety of audiences using Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks,<br />
Photoshop and Illustrator.<br />
638 - COMPUTER-AIDED ART LABORATORY<br />
(1 UNIT) RPT 3<br />
This course is designed to reinforce lecture topics presented<br />
in each computer-aided art course. It provides students with<br />
the opportunity to practice and apply concepts learned<br />
in lecture. This course may require 3.10 hours per week<br />
of student lab work to be scheduled as arranged with<br />

639 - INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL IMAGING<br />
(3 UNITS) CSU<br />
This is an introductory course in computer still image<br />
manipulation. The topics presented include image<br />
editing application of filter, integration of text, and the<br />
combination of scanned images.<br />
640 – PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT (3 UNITS)<br />
CSU<br />
This course will help students assess the needs of their<br />
chosen professions, assess their strengths and develop an<br />
e-portfolio which will best represent them to perspective<br />
employers or transfer institutions.<br />
642 – AUDIO/VIDEO POST PRODUCTION<br />
(3 UNITS) CSU<br />
This course will introduce students to video editing<br />
techniques, for sound and images, using a non-linear<br />
computerized editing program.<br />
706 - CLAY SCULPTURE I (2 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
This course provides the student an exploration of<br />
ceramic sculpture in three dimension and relief. Creative<br />
experimentation is pursued with form, line and space.<br />
Reference is made to the history of and contemporary<br />
issues involving clay sculpture. Individual creativity is<br />
stressed.<br />
707 - CLAY SCULPTURE II (2 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 706 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
The student continues study begun in Art 706 using clay as<br />
a medium in three dimensions and relief. Group criticism<br />
is included regarding the esthetics of clay sculpture.<br />
712 - CERAMICS WORKSHOP (2 UNITS) UC:CSU<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of Art 713 with a grade of “C” or better.<br />
This course is designed for students who wish to continue<br />
study in ceramics through an approved program with a<br />
