water distribution systems in use areas such as Medeiros; and assessing utility<br />

needs and improvements comprehensively to avoid unnecessary ground<br />

disturbance and utility work.<br />

Goal OPS-RE1 Goal OPS-RE1 allows <strong>for</strong> incorporating solar and o<strong>the</strong>r carbonreducing<br />

measures into Plan Area facilities, improvements, and maintenance and<br />

operations.<br />

Mitigation Measure UPS1 In addition to <strong>the</strong> Plan goals and guidelines, <strong>the</strong><br />

following measures would be considered and applied as necessary <strong>for</strong> all of <strong>the</strong><br />

action alternatives during project construction and implementation.<br />

• Maintain and use existing utilities infrastructure and facilities, when<br />

possible, to minimize impacts from construction of additional facilities.<br />

• Avoid trees and existing buildings and facilities that would be affected<br />

during construction of additional utilities infrastructure and facilities, to<br />

<strong>the</strong> degree possible.<br />

• Promptly reconnect utility services that are unexpectedly interrupted by<br />

construction activities. In addition, provide advanced notification to<br />

residents, concessionaires, and o<strong>the</strong>rs in <strong>the</strong> event that utility services will<br />

be disrupted.<br />

5.4.9 Impact Summary<br />

Table 5-4 provides a summary of environmental consequences <strong>for</strong> each resource<br />

discussed above.<br />
