• Maintain open space throughout <strong>the</strong> recreation area and its surroundings<br />

• Future uses along Whiskey Flat Road should be limited; <strong>the</strong> area should not be used <strong>for</strong> parking<br />

or park access, as this may disrupt ranches along <strong>the</strong> road<br />

• State Parks should increase ef<strong>for</strong>ts to eradicate feral pigs from <strong>the</strong> area<br />

• Use <strong>the</strong> General Plan as a means of filling some of <strong>the</strong> gaps in knowledge regarding issues<br />

associated with <strong>the</strong> reservoir and Forebay<br />

• Maintain or expand <strong>the</strong> hunting and fishing opportunities in <strong>the</strong> recreation area<br />

• Take advantage of <strong>the</strong> opportunity provided by <strong>the</strong> Plan <strong>for</strong> a long-term Section 1600 permit <strong>for</strong><br />

ongoing maintenance activities<br />

• Address <strong>the</strong> issue of permits <strong>for</strong> endangered species<br />

• Maintain existing waterfowl hunting opportunity on and along shorelines of reservoir and <strong>for</strong>ebay<br />

• Allow boat-access camping (dispersed, primitive camping) on <strong>San</strong> <strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Reservoir</strong> shoreline in<br />

primitive areas<br />

• Improve SR 33 turn lanes<br />

• Don’t encourage personal watercraft by providing rental units<br />

• Survey and monitor cultural resources<br />

• Are cell towers appropriate?<br />

• Member of Turlock Horseman’s Club that hold organized rides in Cali<strong>for</strong>nia rangelands; <strong>the</strong>y<br />

enjoy seeing cattle grazing and appreciate what <strong>the</strong>y do <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> landscape. Ungrazed patches<br />

seem to turn weedy and pose a fire danger<br />
