Project #2 –Sacramento 511 Traveler Information System
Description – Implement an on­line and telephone system that provides real­time traveler
information to users.
SACOG has deployed a system that provides real­time traveler information to users via the phone
(511) and internet (www.sacregion511.org). This system will be expanded in the future.
Benefits
o Provides real­time traveler information to the public.
Project #3 –Elk Grove communication connection to future STARNET
Description – Design and construct a fiber optic communications link between the Elk Grove
ATMS and Sacramento County fiber network near Bradshaw Road and Calvine Road to provide
infrastructure for STARNET.
The City of Elk Grove is actively deploying a fiber optic and copper network throughout the city.
The City has an opportunity to install a fiber optic communications link that will provide a
connection between the city’s network and Sacramento County’s network. This will consist of
approximately 4 miles of new fiber optic cable, half of which is installed in existing conduit. When
complete, the STARNET communications infrastructure will be in place to Elk Grove.
Benefits
o Provide infrastructure that will include Elk Grove in the regional communications network
that will become STARNET.
o Expand Elk Grove’s fiber optic communications network.
Project #4 –Folsom communication connection to future STARNET via 50­FIG
Description – Install conduit and fiber optic communications cable from Folsom City Hall to
Regional Transit’s 50­FIG fiber optic trunkline to provide Folsom with a connection to STARNET.
The city has an opportunity to complete a fiber optic communications link that will provide a
connection to the future STARNET communications infrastructure. The city needs to design and
construct one mile of infrastructure to complete this link. When complete, the STARNET
communications infrastructure will be in place to Folsom.
Benefits
o Provide infrastructure that will include Folsom in the regional communications network
that will become STARNET.
