database (which identifies standards applicable to each architecture flow) and taking the total set
of standards that result from all of the selected flows. The table provides the status of the
standards effort as of April 2005 (the most recent update of the information).
The following section explains how to identify the specific applicable standards for an individual
interface. Table 4.7 lists the name of the Standards Development Organization (SDO) in the
first column, the Standards Title in the second column, and the Document ID that is used to
describe the standard in the third column. Some of the Standards ID columns have the indication
“(see Footnote)”. These entries represent a group of standards rather than a single standard. The
listing of the individual standards that make up each group is shown in Table 4.8. The SDOs
listed in the table include:
• American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
• American Public Transportation Association (APTA)
• American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
• Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
• Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)
• National Equipment Manufacturers Association (NEMA)
• Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
