The actuality of the topic:
The foundation of the European civilization is the cultural and scientific heritage of
the ancient world. The knowledge of the basic stages of the Roman history and the
history of Latin language promotes the broadening of tne general range of interests
of students.
The learning of the Latin alphabet, the rules of pronunciation of vowels,
consonants, diphthongs, digraphs and letter combinations is directed to the forming
of the basic pronunciation and graphic habits.
2. The specific aims:
To know:
- the Latin alphabet;
- the classification of sounds;
- the peculiarities of the pronunciation of vowels and consonants;
- the diphtongs and their pronunciation;
- the digraphs and their pronunciation;
- the pronunciation of the letter combinations derived from Greek;
- the pronunciation of the letter combinations ngu, su, qu, ti;
- the most widely used Greek prefixes and roots which are written with “y”.
To know how:
- to correctly write the Latin letters;
- to explain the pronunciation of vowels, consonants, letter combinations in
the words of Latin and Greek origin;
- to correctly write the most widely used Greek prefixes and roots with “y”.
