The actuality of the topic:
The list of practical habits on the discipline “Latin language and medical
terminology” includes the free reading of the Latin text, the use of the alphabet
while working with the dictionary, the correct writing of the sounds of the Latin
alphabet; the practical use of the Greek letter combinations in the words derived
from Greek; free mastering of the lexical material and the skill to classify the words
by cases with the purpose of correct writing of endings, free constructing of
anatomic and histological terms on the base of the acquired grammatical
knowledge. That's why it is so important to work out the practical skills to the
content modules 1-2.
2. The specific aims:
1. To know the Latin alphabet, the classification of vowels and consonants,
diphthongs, letter combinations, long and short syllables, the rules of stress.
2. To know the grammatical categories of the noun, the rules of writing nouns in
the vocabulary, the determination of the stem, gender and declension of
nouns.
3. To know the grammatical categories of the adjectives, division into groups,
gender endings, the rule of finding the stem.
4. To know the rules of constructing and the ways of translation of the
constructions “the agreed attribute”, morphological and syntactical structure
of two- and many-word terms with different types of attributes.
5. To know the typical signs of the 1-st and 2-nd declension nouns, the
paradigm, the peculiarities of the nouns – exceptions to the rule of gender.
6. To know the Greek-Latin equivalents of the 1-st and 2-nd declension nouns,
the 1-st group adjectives, the word terminations.
7. To know how to determine the stem, gender and declension of nouns and
adjectives, to write them in the vocabulary form.
8. To know how to agree adjectives with nouns, to form two- and many-word
anatomic terms.
