VALBRYN

agents are spotted in neighboring lands, she can attribute
the foray to a rogue element that is being hunted down
and punished.
In truth, the death maidens do Valbryn’s secret bidding.
These warriors are female giant ninjas whom she has trained
to fulfill their current roles without fail. The Urdred have full
discretion to exercise their will as they see fit; they command
the hell hounds of Gilgirn and are accountable to no one but
Valbryn. She keeps their numbers limited and promotes new
candidates as needed.
Because the Urdred frequently lead expeditionary forces,
the PCs will likely encounter them before meeting any other
members of the fire giant kingdom. Thus, the death maidens
are a good way for characters to experience Valbryn’s machinations
firsthand in an encounter outside Gilgirn. In such
encounters, the Urdred are almost always found plundering
repositories of knowledge.
As the PCs attain higher levels and grow more capable of
handling the Urdred in combat, the nature of the encounters
shifts. Valbryn has finally identified the items needed to
build the planar trestle, and the death maidens begin searching
other lands in earnest for obscure historical objects. The
diplomatic gloves come off, and the Urdred go to increasingly
greater lengths to secure the component parts of the
minor artifact.
VALBRYN MORLYDD IN EBERRON
Valbryn struggles for dominance among the indigenous
dark elves of Xen’drik. However, as a fire giant wu jen,
she craves the convenience and resources of Khorvaire.
There are plenty of runes to explore on each continent, any
of which can lead to the discovery of another component
of the planar trestle.
VALBRYN MORLYDD
IN FAERÛN
Valbryn is eager to raise the profile of her kingdom
by taking back the fire giants’ ancestral home,
which is currently occupied by gold dwarves.
The dwarves do not know about the portal to the
Elemental Plane of Fire, so Valbryn is the only
individual capable of acquiring the knowledge to
unlock the gate. What she discovers on the other
side might help or hinder her cause.
APPEARANCE
AND BEHAVIOR
Early in her adulthood Valbryn had no ambitions
to rule the fire giant kingdom, but leadership
becomes her. Once the young bride of a crude and selfindulgent
king, she now thrives as the queen of Gilgirn,
basking in the inferno of limitless power and unforeseen
possibilities. To her court, she appears more confident and
vital nowadays than ever before.
Valbryn makes no effort to hide her curves (such as they
are with a fire giant’s physique), and she accentuates her shape

MINOR ARTIFACT:
PLANAR TRESTLE
A planar trestle is an amalgamation of esoteric objects that
are unique to the plane on which the artifact was created.
Once the components are interlocked in one specific way,
the amalgamated object cannot be physically sundered or
harmed by any type of energy. When a planar trestle is brought
into contact with a portal to another plane, whether sealed or
inactive, that portal is forced open permanently, destroying
the artifact.
