THE SOTH TARNEL IN FAERÛN
The Soth Tarnel was built centuries ago, after the great battle
that gave the Mere of Dead Men its name. Standing just off
the coast of that desolate salt marsh, the tomb honors Marinnar,
a great warrior who fell during the desperate fighting.
Survivors of that terrible slaughter recovered his body and
built the Soth Tarnel to mark his sacrifice.
Since the last survivors died out, harpies and pirates
have tried to claim the Soth Tarnel. However, the turbulent
waters that surround the spire—not to mention numerous
aquatic predators—make any such occupation temporary
at best.
GILGIRN IN EBERRON
The fiery mountainhold can be one of many volcanic locations
in Xen’ Drik. Alternatively, a Gilgirn located closer to
civilization could be in Khorvaire, looking down upon the
Eldeen Reaches from the demon wastes.
GILGIRN IN FAERÛN
Nestled in the Smoking Mountains, a region known for
extensive mining, Gilgirn is mistakenly regarded as an active
volcano by nearby communities. As a result, the miners avoid
the fiery mountainhold completely.
BLEAK HOLD IN EBERRON
Bleak Hold is the remains of a shattered tower, protruding
from an enormous floating rock in a sea of necromantic
sludge. Flitting through the perpetual shadows are the
xeg-yi (Manual of the Planes 168), who torment slaves stolen
from the Material Plane and force them to mine the rock
for precious ore. Meanwhile, the slaves wait their turn to
perish, and become reanimated as mindless soldiers in the
war machine.
BLEAK HOLD IN FAERÛN
Bleak Hold was once an impressive temple of Shar; planar
travelers claim that it was thrust from the Material Plane
during an ancient battle with Selûne. Legend holds that the
tower once contained a potent artifact that was instrumental
in the tearing of the weave. Luckily, the site no longer holds
such power and now simply rots in the void.
IMER IN EBERRON
Imer the Lost dates back to the Age of Monsters, and legends
say that it might be older still, built on foundations
laid by efreet during the Age of Demons. Centuries ago,
Borak came to Imer in pursuit of the draconic Prophecy
and laid waste to the city when she was betrayed. Her
fascination with humans stems partially from the dragonmarks
and their relation to the Prophecy, and her hoard
includes many sources of knowledge that hold clues to
this mystery.
IMER IN FAERÛN
Imer the Beautiful was one of the jewels of Calimshan,
built by djinn at the direction of powerful sorcerers. When
its greatest wizard provoked the anger of Boraksaghegirak,
the furious dragon razed the city, sending its dazzling
spires crashing into the sands. Now Imer is a haunted
ruin, half-buried in the desert and avoided by anyone with
good sense.
