Comparable Airports Overview
When making comparisons between Airports, it is most useful to balance quantitative metrics, those
things capable of being expressed numerically, and qualitative metrics, those things described in terms of
quality or character. In an Airport environment there are both numerous quantitative and qualitative
metrics that can be considered. For this analysis, a framework was developed for use when contacting
representatives of the comparable Airports that included questions related to both qualitative and
quantitative metrics in a management context.
Telephone interviews were conducted for each comparable Airport between December 2007 and January
2008. The information garnered from the interviews is presented below within the context of the
management framework and each management context is preceded by a brief description of each Airport.
