Develop mitigation strategy Finalise mitigation strategy Project Sub-stages Activities to be Undertaken Planning Application PA1 PA2 Detailed Technical Studies Planning Application (in accordance with jurisdictional requirements) Purpose: To provide detailed site-specific data to enable optimisation of the project layout and assess the impacts of the project. Activity: Assess via desktop and site studies: • survey and mapping of the locations of residences and other infrastructure • planning (strategic policy context, development approval and permit requirements) • representative wind turbine generator selection • electrical connections and on-site infrastructure • noise • shadow flicker • landscape • ecology (flora and fauna) • cultural heritage • geotechnical conditions • water quality impacts • waste management • traffic and transportation management • aircraft safety • electromagnetic interference • socio-economic impacts. A best-practice planning application should also include: • the preferred wind farm layout • details of the proposed power connection options • details of the community and stakeholder management programme • Environmental Management Plan, including decommissioning • Emergency and Incident Management Plan • Fire Hazard Management Plan. Consultation: Significant stakeholder input will be required for the Landscape and EMI Technical Investigations. A Community Information Event or Events should be conducted at this stage to present the preliminary outcomes of the technical investigation process. Stakeholder feedback on the investigations and project design should be considered for incorporation and/or amendment in the project design as far as possible. A report of consultation conducted to date and its outcomes should be prepared for inclusion in the planning application documentation. Purpose: To present the proposed project and its impacts in a form suitable for planning authority and community assessment of the project. Activity: Prepare a planning application and supporting documentation incorporating the all technical reports and a summary of findings in plain English. Consultation: The planning application submission will be available for public exhibition. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to comment on the application to the relevant authorities, according to their statutory requirements.
