Uniforms
Purpose
To provide a policy for the issue and wearing of Fire Department uniforms.
Objective
To establish a consistent standard for uniforms worn by the Fire Department personnel.
Scope
This policy applies to all Cleveland Fire Department personnel with the exception of the Fire Chief and the
Secretary.
Responsibility
All Officers are responsible for the enforcement of this policy.
Policy
All personnel shall wear the Daily Duty Uniform approved by the Cleveland Fire Department 0800-1700
hours.
All 24-hour personnel shall maintain one (1) complete reserve uniform at their respective stations.
Approved Uniforms
A. Class A Uniform
Approved pants, dress shirt, dress coat, black tie, navy blue or black socks, black shoes, black belt,
and appropriate brass. This type of uniform would be worn on formal occasions.
B. Class B Uniform
Approved pants, blue dress shirt (white dress shirt for Battalion Commanders and Captains), CFD
issued jacket, black or navy blue socks, black shoes, black belt, and appropriate brass. This class
of uniform shall be worn by all personnel when reporting for duty and during the hours of 0800-
1700 and at any time that is deemed appropriate by the Battalion Commander, Deputy Chief or
Chief.
C. Class C Uniform
Approved pants, approved Cleveland Fire Department tee shirt, black belt, black or navy socks
and black shoes. This class of uniform may be worn when performing maintenance at the fire
station (i.e. mowing lawn, washing windows, etc.) and during evolution training classes if
approved by the Chief, Deputy Chief, Commander or Officer in charge.
